6 Benefits of Using a Humidifier

Placing a humidifier in the living room, bedroom, kitchen or other room has the potential to offer a wide range of benefits. Humidifier Aromatherapy is very effective at adding moisture to the air, which makes the living environment more comfortable and healthy. Dry air is especially noticeable in the winter time, but the humidifier can still benefit the home throughout the year. Let's take a look at six of the positive reasons to use a humidifier:

Lower risk of infections - Bacteria and viruses are less effective at traveling in air that is kept moist. Anyone sitting in a room with moist air is at a much lower risk of catching the flu or a similar disease.

Soft skin - Dry, cold air will soon pull moisture from the skin. This can lead to a variety of skin related issues, such as flaking, dullness, dryness and even accelerated aging. Keeping the air moist can prevent such problems.

Vibrant houseplants - Adding a few houseplants to rooms throughout the home can help extract toxins from the environment. However, most types of houseplants will have difficulty thriving in a home with dry air. If the leaves on the plants are starting to look a little sick and droopy, a humidifier will inject enough moisture to keep them healthy.

Protects furniture - Many homes with constant dry air are likely to have issues with damage to wooden furniture, such as cracks and splits in the doors and moldings. With the right moisture in the air, the wooden furniture in the home will be more efficient at maintaining its integrity.

Better sleep - A moist environment is much better for a restful night of sleep. Using a humidifier in the bedroom is likely to benefit the person that often snores. There is a much greater likelihood of snoring when the throat and sinuses are dry. Sleeping in a room with moist air will help to relax the nasal passages, airway and throat to leave you feeling more comfortable and warm. Also, if the sinuses are left to dry out, the body's ability to naturally resist bacteria and viruses is a lot lower.
